Dr. Phillips Center Project Update

What’s Next…
We are so close to establishing a groundbreaking date and are working, along with the City of Orlando and the OCCC (Orlando Community Construction Committee), to find solutions and get the project started.  As discussed (and for those who were unable to join us), the next critical step is establishing the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP).  To do this, our board is executing a plan to help find financial solutions.  We are continuing to support the value engineering process to find more project savings and the OCCC’s new owner’s representative, PCL Construction, is presenting recommendations for additional savings this week.

We are moving quickly to complete this process.  With that said, your participation and support is magnified today… as Sibille Pritchard shared “ you are the messengers of our project and mission throughout the region.”  We shared several CALL TO ACTION requests that are recapped below.  We encourage and appreciate you for assisting in any or all ways!

Action Plan…
1.      We ask you to write letters of support to the editors of our local papers that are focused simply on why you and/or your family are so committed to the performing arts center project.  A full list of recommended publications and talking points for reference are attached, as well as on the Volunteer Resources page of the Web site.  Feel free to share with any publication (from Church newsletters to PTA communication to community papers) that you may have an affiliation with.  As importantly, please ask 10 like-minded friends to so the same! Please don’t forget to share your submissions with us (alexis@drphillipscenter.org).
2.      Join us on Facebook and Twitter - “like” us… comment and tweet… repost our comments and share with your friends or followers.  The impact of social media is tremendous and our “friend-raising” efforts can easily be multiplied with a couple of strokes of the keys.  You asked for our renderings to add to your pages.  You may download them from our Web site here.
3.      Continue to help identify groups to present our project to; invite them in for a tour or host a meeting on our behalf (neighborhood association, chamber of commerce, church group).  This is a complex project… it is our collective goal to help engage our region and get them informed and excited about the Center.
4.      Prepare for groundbreaking!  We ask that you start making your list of invitees.  There will be a community celebration and we want it to be chock full of attendees from across the region!  We want your mayors, chamber presidents, county commissioners, family, friends, work mates and neighbors to join us.  We hope to announce a date soon.

Support the arts!!!
