The practice of drawing helps create empathy for others. This happens because you have to divert your thoughts away from yourself to the busying task of channeling inspiration through your eyes and hands onto the empty canvas.
Doodling, is improvisational art production, and like jazz it is all based on prior knowledge mixed with the spirit of creativity. I never thought about it that way, but that is why I love doodling. It's so democratic, within the boundaries of the self. Just like jazz and many other American musical art-forms, there are decisions being made every moment and on the spot. They involve planning, execution and on the spot decision making /problem solving.
Doodling is really fun and kids 1-100 can enjoy its positive benefits. I think I will start a doodle-a-day campaign to help change children's critical thinking skills and their awareness of self. Sounds pretty cool, lol. So, join in and help start the debate.
